In the City of San Rafael in the Bay Area of San Francisco, California; There is a high percentage of immigrant population, being one of the largest concentrations in the “Canal” area. The Latino community is underrepresented in this city, the current election mechanisms seem not to be viable for people in our community or related people have the opportunity to apply for candidacies, which results in little or no representation of our people among the authorities of the District.

During this period, a discussion is underway about the San Rafael City District Election process where the parties and representatives of that city will be elected. It is important that the communities know, understand and participate by giving their opinion and suggestions in this process, so the entire population is invited to attend the meetings of the Municipal Council of the City of San Rafael this Monday, December 4 at 7: 00 pm, where the authorities will discuss the issue and receive comments during the regular meeting of the Council.

The comments received by the City Council will influence the final decision to be made on Monday, December 18. It is very important to make an appearance and opinion for these meetings of December 4 and 18, 2018 in the City of San Rafael to learn more about the issue of district elections in San Rafael, which has important implications for immigrants and residents of the “Canal” in the coming years.
